i open the bedroom door and let the scents of his shower products waft in slowly.
to think of him in there naked in body and morning thought leaves me lying in much of my own contemplations.

| Off With Their Heads and co. - "Summer Fun!" |
[Sunday
July 19th, 2009] |
Hey kids.
I started a new job about two months ago, which is why updates have been so scarce. But now I'm pretty settled in there, and I'm ready to jump back into drawing more regularly. I have four new album covers to post on either Tuesday or Wednesday, and a new five page My Stupid Life comic in the works that I can hopefully share within the next couple weeks.
BUT! Until then! Look, look, I drew a new poster and Amanda watercolored it:

Hooray! More art to come later this week!
P.S. Heads up, everyone, we moved the store to a new site. It was down for a while and some of you expressed concern about that, but now it's back for good, so have at it!

towards ferocious energies
I hope you do understand, you are part lamp and part letter, thing to guide in and thing to send away. lichen of time, baby of the instant, craving love like water craves to become frost.
dissolution is not destruction, though your calamity comes in like a whirlwind, it builds instruments of odd calmness like a master smith, it becomes a surprising utensil of beauty: a red wall-scroll in a dull-stoned hall.
I take to the organ of merit, diapason of soft sounds that lull me and celestial reaching in your eyes, green glass rise of emotion akin to some wanton tide. so strange the combination of powers fostered upon one young soul, these.

For my post on the Pat-Rachel segment....I don't want anyone to think I am supporting racist remarks on tv. I wasn't looking at the whole picture and I didn't completely think it through.
Ive thought about it a lot and watched the video again and i agree, Rachel was wrong to bring him on. I hope she explains why she did it on Monday. And I hope MSNBC takes some kind of action against Pat, I doubt they will sadly but I'm sure people remember the whole Don Imus thing. What he said was wrong and he was fired, well Pat says terrible things every day. It's not right for MSNBC to keep paying him for it.
Anyways, so yea I'm sorry :( I feel really bad.

| Rachel did an awesome job on the Walter Cronkite story! |
[Friday
July 17th, 2009] |
|
I know that David Schuster got blind-sided and had to go into "wall-to-wall" coverage mode very quickly, but he did seem to be struggling a little bit.
Rachel (who still probably had to throw out her whole planned show) did an amazing job, managing to be both deferential to Brokaw, Rather, and Brian Williams, but also letting her own personality come through and asking interesting questions.
As sad as everybody obviouisly is, I think she managed to strike just the right tone.
I LOVE THIS WOMAN SO MUCH!!!

1) RIP Walter Cronkite. Godamn you glorious bastard, there's no other word but glorious. This is the nerd version of Michael Jackson dying, I hope you all know. The fact that all this news footage with the typewriters and the history and the journalism and the stuff that is going to be playing on the major networks is like for me. idk.
...idk. Here's Obama's statement. http://bit.ly/14hy1o V. classy.
2) NOW FOR THE FUNNY. You know how Zell Miller (you may remember him from the Daily Show's Zell On Earth and Stephen Colbert challenging him to a duel) said we should glue Obama to his chair with gorilla glue? Well, gorilla glue released a statement.
The Gorilla Glue Company Responds to Zell Miller's Recent Comments
We Do Not Advocate Attempting to Glue the Leader of the Free World to His Chair
News Facts * In response to Zell Miller's recent comments, The Gorilla Glue Company sends letter to President Obama. * The response was sent today from the desk of Peter Ragland, President, The Gorilla Glue Company. * The Gorilla Glue Company does not advocate the gluing of President Obama to his chair with their product. * The quality adhesive products produced by the company are for the toughest building and repair jobs. * Gorilla brand products are created with strength and toughness as the goal. * The Gorilla Glue Company is a family owned business located in Cincinnati, Ohio. * Gorilla Glue represents just the type of growing small business that President Obama mentions as the job creators in our country. * Gorilla Glue continues to: create new jobs, boast of no lay-offs, provide healthcare for all full-time employees and proudly make all products in the USA.
Quotes
Attributed to Peter Ragland, President, The Gorilla Glue Company: * Zell Miller's recent comments have thrust our product and company into the limelight. * While our products are known for being strong and tough we certainly would not advocate attempting to glue the Leader of the free world to his chair.

No. 15: Rachel Maddow Maddow's eponymous cable talk/news/events show debuted last year and now regularly beats her CNN competitor, Larry King Live, in the ratings. Maddow, 36, quickly established a reputation as someone who could tackle issues with intelligence and irreverence. With her embrace of Twittering, podcasting and fan art, she appeals to a younger, hipper audience. Her Web site is even designed like an iPod, with a "playlist." She also has a regular show on Air America, the liberal radio station.

Audience is determined by average Nielsen Media Research numbers for television ratings and net traffic for the past 12 months. Fame and influence is determined by overall mentions on Factiva and by social media outreach, or the amount of followers on Twitter and friends on Facebook.

I really fucking hate it when they make you go through a slideshow to see the list. Just print the damn list. I also hate when the slideshow has to reload the page for every slide. Flash, you guys--it's not that hard.
Also at that Forbes article: Who's Hot: The Rising Stars We asked the women at wowOwow one simple question: Who's your pick for today's fastest-rising media star?
Candice Bergen: Rachel Maddow is the smart chick du jour but here to stay. A total star.
Marlo Thomas: I like Rachel Maddow because I always learn a little something when I watch her, as opposed to most of the screaming boys. And she's so sassy.

I have a question. Why are there so many goddamn Emmy nominees? There are 7 Outstanding Drama and Comedy series nominees, 6 nominees in almost all of the acting categories and many of the other categories have more than 5 nominees. I don't really understand this. Are they just wanting to give more actors an ego boost by saying they were nominated for an Emmy? I mean, don't get me wrong, I think many of the nominees are deserving and many of them are often overlooked (♥Benry♥), so it's nice to see that they are getting a little recognition, but it's a little ridiculous, don't you think?
But even with the extra nominations, they still snubbed January Jones for Mad Men this season, which is utter crap. I love that Elisabeth Moss, John Hamm and John Slattery were all nominated, but January Jones was so amazing as Betty. I would have also liked to see Christina Hendricks nominated, but I'm ridiculously in love with the women of Mad Men, so, maybe that's why.
But I am pretty pleased with the nominees overall. Kiefer Sutherland wasn't nominated for 24 (just the African Adventure movie) which I was a little bummed about, but Cherry Jones was and she rules, so that evens things out. I really just want Mad Men or Dexter to win the drama categories and I don't really care about the comedy ones, as I don't watch any of those shows besides Family Guy. I get my television lolz from the CW's superb broadcasting.
Anyway, speaking of television, I want to express my respect and love for tonight's episode of 16 and Pregnant. I think the series overall was very well done and showed 6 very different situations with refreshing honesty, but tonight's was especially well done. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, 16 and Pregnant is a show on MTV about well, being 16 and Pregnant. It's young girls and couples dealing with an unexpected pregnancy while still in high school without any Moldy Peaches songs. All of the other girls/couples kept their babies and dealt/are dealing with being parents at such a young age, but tonight, the couple, Catelynn and Tyler, decided to give their baby up for adoption. They both come from not-ideal home situations (her mom and his dad are actually married, but they were together before their parents were) and they decide that they can't provide a great life for a baby at this point in their lives. Their parents are furious with them and want them to keep the baby, but Catelynn and Tyler are both about 12,000 times more mature than their parents and make the decision without their approval. They go to the adoption agency and choose the adoptive parents all on their own. Catelynn's mom even calls a "bitch" for doing it but she doesn't back down to her. Like, seriously, she's a rockstar. But anyway, after the baby is born, watching them finally have to make the exchange and give their baby up to its adoptive parents was probably the most emotional thing I've seen in a long time. It's an open-adoption, so they'll be keeping in touch, but you could just feel how hard it was for them, even though they knew they were making the right decision. I've never rooted so hard for a teenage-couple on a reality/documentary program, but I really want those kids to make it.

| On a more HI-LARIOUS note... |
[Thursday
July 16th, 2009] |
I finally saw the Rachel Maddow page for Encyclopedia Dramatica. I actually, a while back, requested it...but had no idea they finally made it.
For those that don't know, ED is pretty much a wiki-parody. It is built to make fun of every single thing that crosses it's path. For example...well, actually...I can't give an example because its all very, very naughty...LOL But go here for serious funny: http://encyclopediadramatica.com/Kim_Jong_Il
Keep in mind its all highly offensive...but, well, what can you expect from professional internet trolls? Lol.
Anyhoo...my point was that they finally made a page about Maddow! And its, actually, POSITIVE. It's literally the nicest page that I've ever seen for ANYBODY on ED. (They don't do nice often) And, while it still pokes fun at Olbermann and the like, it says "Anyone who watches her show becomes an instant bisexual." Clearly talking about her fangirls...
Well, AFTER you look at some of the other entries on encyclopediadramatica.com, you should seriously check out her page to see the difference and see how awesomely she is loved there!

And don't think horribly of me for spending vast amounts of time on this site! LOL

There's a couple of dairies complaining about Rachel bringing on Pat tonight because it gives him a platform to air his racist views. While, I understand that the man is unbearable to listen to - but Rachel did an awesome job tonight. She made him look completely out of touch. Yes, his views are disgusting but Rachel made him look so backwards.
Watching the show tonight - made me want to see Rachel in more debates again, not with Pat but with other conservatives or even democrats.
I do agree though that Pat needs to be taken off MSNBC and replaced with someone else because he is a racist and he offends MSNBC viewers with his crap however as long as he is still employed by MSNBC and he comes on a show like Rachel's and he is not given a pass - I don't see the harm. It does more good than harm to have someone intelligent like Rachel debate him.
