because i still haven't worked on my paper for advanced 2D...
Is anyone else fascinated by suspension?

I first heard about it when I was 13-ish, I think from a show on the discovery channel or something like that. At first it freaked me out, like "yeah, piercings are neat and I love tattoos, but sticking hooks though your skin and hanging from them? That's fucking ridiculous".

But I still couldn't stop looking. I learned more about what/why cultures suspend, looked at photos, watched videos. I decided a long time ago that suspending is one of my goals for the future.

Not much on modblog has grossed me out. DIY Amputation, subsinction, rotted-through nipple piercings? No problem!
But ressurection suspensions squick me out soooo bad, and I don't know why.

I don't like the ones where you can see that the holes were put there just for that suspension and they're bleeding. It's too far for me- I'm squeamish.

But I think they're really pretty in a holy-shit-I-would-never-ever-do-that-to-my-body way, especially the last and the "SQUEEEE" one. Cute!

Yeah, everyone's got their "pretty in a holy-shit-I-would-never-ever-do-that-to-my-body" limits. I definitely cross the line at huuuge piercings (mine are tiny) and cutting off any of my body parts.

While I do think that suspension is pretty in its own way I don't think it's for me.

I don't mind watching it, or looking at it, or friends telling me what they've had done/are going to do. But I don't think I could do it.

The wedding one, I totally agree with you. It's amazing.
Although I do like the fact that in the 'resurrection' picture her suspenders are actually suspended for real like. Cool.

Suspension pictures never really bother me, excpet the ones where people are crying. I can't really explain it, it just bothers me?

And I wanna suspend someday! I'll for sure show you pictures!

I think when they look like they're crying it's like they're in pain, and that might be the issue. I can't look at some of the ones where the blood flow is more an average [weird right?].

Oh, if you did suspension someday you'd need to send all kinds of photos.

I sometimes wish I could do it. But it freaks me out just a little the thought of me doing it.
[it's also why I'll never have surface piercings no matter how bad I want them]

But surface piercings are prettyyyy. I want them, but I'm not sure where to get them and if they'd be worth the healing/aftercare.

Same about knowing about it since 13! I made a list of things I wanted to do before I died, and suspension was/is one of them. My mom found it and wrote on it "HAVE YOU LOST YOUR FUCKING MIND!?" Hee. Its hanging on my wall in my room right now, actually. XD

I've actually completed a few things so far on my giant list of things to do before I die! It's pretty cool. ^_^

And my mom thinks suspension is gross, too. She's got tattoos, but she's even squicked out by piercings and tame things like that.

Mom doesn't really like tattoos, either. She doesn't mind them, but she still doesn't like them. "On your body... forever..." And I'm like yeah mom, thats kind-of the general idea... :P
